Foster’s Food Fair-IGA would like to announce that Global Brand and Export Development has issued a voluntary recall on Ziyad Tahini due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

 

Salmonella is a toxic organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and produce more severe illnesses.

 

Foster’s IGA does carry Ziyad Tahini products and has been affected by this recall. All infected products have been pulled from the shelves.

Customers should check the UPC’s on Ziyad Tahini products in their homes to be sure none of the affected product has been purchased. We encourage all customers who have purchased this product from any of our Foster’s IGA locations to return the affected product for a full refund. Please discontinue use of any affected product.
