Organic Amaranth Flour Recall

Foster’s Food Fair-IGA would like to announce that Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods, Inc. has voluntarily issued a recall on Organic Amaranth Flour (22 oz.) due to possible contamination of Salmonella, which could cause major health risks.
Salmonella is a toxic organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and produce more severe illnesses.
Foster’s IGA does not carry Bob’s Red Mill Organic Amaranth Flour and has not been affected by this recall. The Organic Amaranth Flour has a sell by date of 11/26/2015 and is from Lot: 169617. This information can be found on the side of the package, near the top of the panel.
The product affected has a UPC of 039978009111 and a Lot Code of 169617.
No other Bob’s Red Mill Products are included within this recall.
Customers should check the UPC’s on Bob red Mill branded products in their homes to be sure none of the affected product has been purchased.
