Foster’s Food Fair-IGA would like to announce that the company that makes Nathan’s and Curtis hot dogs is recalling more than 200,000 pounds of product due to metal found in the packages.

John Morrell and Co., of Cincinnati, Ohio, said it had gotten three complaints and notified the US federal government Friday. There have been no confirmed reports of injuries or adverse reactions from the products.

Foster’s IGA carries Nathan’s brand hot dogs and has been affected by this recall. We do not carry Curtis brand hot dogs. The recall applies to 14-oz sealed film packs labeled “Nathan’s Skinless 8 Beef Franks” with a use-by date of Aug. 19, 2017.

The packages have “Est. 296” on the sides and were shipped to retail locations within the US.

Foster’s IGA is affected by this recall, and the affected products have been pulled from the shelves.

No other Nathan’s hot dog branded products are included within this recall.

Customers should check the UPC on Nathan’s branded products in your home to be sure none of the affected product has been purchased. We encourage all customers who have purchased this product from any of our Foster’s Food Fair-IGA locations to return the affected product for a full refund. Please discontinue use of any affected product.
