Boost Ya Juice
Juices and smoothies (homemade or freshly made at your favorite café) are a great way to quickly fill your body with nutrients.
But other than the usual ingredients (banana, oranges, etc), what can we add, to give us that little extra boost?
- Ginger – this will sure give your drink a kick, both in taste and health benefits. Ginger is known to provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Just don’t go too heavy, as the strong flavor may takeover the taste of your drink.
- Turmeric – Again similar to ginger, turmeric has great health benefits like being a natural anti-inflammatory, it can also protect against heart disease and is full of antioxidant properties. Just be careful, as turmeric can stain your hands, nails, cutting boards… and just about anything!
- Blueberries – fresh or frozen, these superfoods are low in calories, but high in nutrients. Like ginger and turmeric these berries are full of antioxidants (which are molecules that fight free radicals in your body). The best things about blueberries though, is that they’re sweet, colorful and incredibly healthy.
- Flax Seeds – these little things are loaded with nutrients, like protein, and especially fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. This ingredient is super versatile and can easily be added to your favorite smoothie or juice, breakfast or even a salad (for a little crunch).
Next time your shopping for juice and smoothie ingredients, throw some of the above in your cart, to give your body that extra boost it’s craving.
