Back To School: Build-Your-Own Lunch Kit Guide
If your kids are old enough, or you are just too busy to prep their meals each week – you can let them pack their lunches on their own!
Help your kids along and take the hassle out of meal prepping by creating a routine that allows them to choose their own lunches – from a variety of ‘parent-approved’ ingredients!
It’s a way to teach them responsibility and alleviate the pressures of meal prepping on your own.
Here’s how it works:
All you have to do is pre-pack 5 ‘foodie’ bins with nutritious & delicious food options, then, your kids can choose one item from each bin to put into their lunch kits for the day.
Simple, convenient and easy!
See the foodie bin categories below:
Bin 1: Protein
(Deli Meats, Sausage, Shrimp Chicken, Bacon, Eggs, Pepperonis, etc.)
Help your kids build strong bones and muscles by including meats in their diet!
Bin 2: Fruits
(Apples, Bananas, Mango, Grapes, Tangerines, etc.)
Include fruits that are in season and make sure that they’re washed, chopped, or portioned!
Bin 3: Vegetables
(Avocado, Broccoli, Carrots, Corn, Spinach, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, etc.)
Ensure that your kids are receiving their vitamins and minerals.
Let them choose from nutritious veggies!
Bin 4: Dairy
(Milk, Yogurt, Cheese Sticks, etc.)
Make sure your kids are gaining the calcium and vitamin D they need by providing dairy options!
Bin 5: Grains
(Crackers, Muffins, Bread, Rice, Nature Valley Bars, Quinoa, etc.)
Eating fiber helps to reduce constipation, increases healthy bowel functionality, and aids in reducing the risk of heart disease!
Optional: Treat Bin!
(Candies, Cookies, Kid’s Favorite Snack)
If you want to treat your kids when they’ve done something extra special, make a treat bin!
Be it a good report card, good behavior, or surpassing expectations, let them know with delicious kiddie desserts they can choose from!
